Free mp3 - Pretty Lights - Fly Away Another Day
PRETTY LIGHTS
"Fly Away Another Day"
Pretty Lights is the musical vision of Colorado based producer Derek Vincent Smith, accompanied in the live setting by drummer Cory Eberhard.
Pretty Lights' first two albums, Taking Up Your Precious Time and Filling Up The City Skies have been downloaded over 300,000 times from his website, which equates to over 6.15 million track downloads.
Fly Away Another Day revisits Pretty Lights' sound, with an ethereal piano setting the tone before a wild glitchy rasping bass kicks in with rapid hats and soulful trumpet samples.
Pretty Lights returns with his new album Passing By Behind Your Eyes which is available as a free download here. The album is energetic with futuristic synthesis and dirty broken beats juxtaposed with collages and soulful vintage samples.
Pretty Lights is embarking on a UK tour in February - dates below.
Fri Feb 12 - O2 Oxford Academy
Sat Feb 13 - Petrol Antwerp, Belgium
Sun Feb 14 - Oceana, Nottingham
Mon Feb 15 - Ministry of Sound, London
Wed Feb 17 - Batchwood Hall, Hertfordshire
Thu Feb 18 - Gatecrasher, Birmingham
Sat Feb 20 - Melkweg, Amsterdam
Check out Pretty Lights on RCRD LBL and a live performance. See our last post about Pretty Lights here. You can get Pretty Lights merchandise here.

Pig Pen: Comics, Noise, Indie Pop, Autism...
Have you heard about Pig Pen yet? It's a night we put on down here at The Macbeth, run by Ben and Gabriel. Gabriel is on the autistic scale and chooses the acts with his yes / no device. I'm going to meet Ben and find out what that actually means later, but in the meantime I've found some ridiculously glowing reviews of Tim Ten Yen who's playing tonight, and below is some advice from Lecool recommending you come and see him. Read it here (below), or read it there - http://lecool.com/cities/london/newsletters/current.html
All the acts tonight are...
Niall Spooner-Harvey
poetry and host for the evening
Tim Ten Yen (LIVE)
Indie Pop sensation
Trabant (LIVE)
Noise musician
Bearcraft (LIVE)
Spectral synths and electro beats with English Folk themes
Pig Pen cabaret
DJ
Brian Turner
spinning vinyl from the 60s, Soul and Funk
free BBQ and comic books

Tim Ten Yen, from www.Lecool.com
"My highlight from our first ever le cool party last year was encountering a seemingly clockwork man singing to a frisky pop backing tape and occasionally wielding a frazzled-looking mechanical cat. I felt the kind of instant affection only one absolute weirdo can feel for another. Having sufficiently recovered from that Tim Ten Yen set, I’m ready for more, this time as part of Pig Pen, at the Macbeth. Come and see what I mean. Citing influences such as ‘Chris de Burgh live at Wembley Arena Sunday 20th November 1988’, ‘Sony Walkman’ and ‘Mr. Harris (my music teacher)’, Tim Ten Yen might well be expected to produce rather a bizarre breed of noise; indeed, it’s an intriguing blast of slightly dancey 80s-style pop, replete with playful bouncey keyboards, and topped with talk of forests and bears. I do hope the cat will attend. / Lara Kavanagh"

Name- Amy
Favourite Night- I actually like early weeknights when random touring acts pass through. Tune-yards for example.
Favourite Macbeth memory- Maybe creating a FREE THE CULLEN ONE banner in the middle of Adults to welcome my squatmate Darren back from a harrowing one day term in prison for stealing electricity to feed our radiator habit. Or maybe playing a god-addled Mary in the Koran Koran Nativity play (pictured).
Favourite artist- I keep listening to really old Neil Young songs but Beef Sandal are my all time favourite band.
Favourite song- Southern Man / Only Love Can Break Your Heart

New Miike Snow / Vampire Weekend / Netsky / Caspa mixes
2009 has been a fantastic year for both Vampire Weekend, Caspa and Miike Snow.
Here's three remixes with Caspa taking the darker end of Miike Snows Black and Blue and Netsky, dnb's new boy on the block, making the song into a big, main room style, High Contrast style banger. The third is Miike Snow flexing their remix muscles on Vampire Weekends The Kids Don't Stand a Chance.
All three fantastic tunes from fantastic artists who we're sure will do big things this year.
